Wind Farm Update Print E-mail
Sunday, 22 April 2007
On Thursday, the projo published an update on the wind-farm study that was released last week, and posted an online survey. As of today, there are 67 comments, and most are in favor. Those who oppose it question the need for it, or the cost, or the impact on marine life, or would prefer further study. Only one said the turbines would be a "blight" on the pristine seascape. Governor Carcieri said last week he will form a stakeholder process to ensure that a broad array of interests ? including environmental advocates ? are considered in actual siting decisions. That process should get under way within weeks, he said. Click here for the full text of the governor's press release. For more about the study, and links to the study itself and other resources, see our NNN story from last week.
