NECSP Grassroots Outreach Coordinator, New England Coalition for Sustainable Population, 20 hours per week. New England Coalition for Sustainable Population is seeking to hire a part time (20 hours per week) grassroots outreach coordinator (GOC), responsible for public engagement and education at select events and venues throughout the New England region. A working knowledge of the relationship of human population dynamics and sustainable development is preferred; dedication to sustainable development essential. Applicant will work from home under the direction of the Executive Director when not representing NECSP in public. BA/BS required. Public speaking and public relations skills, excellent internet and other research abilities, self-starter, well-organized, ability to travel, meet deadlines – all important. > for more information. JOB DESCRIPTION: SUMMARY: The GOC will act as support and research associate for executive director in identifying, organizing and implementing NECSP programs. She/he will engage the public at fairs, festivals, conferences, student centers and other pertinent venues. Public speaking skills, internet research, self-starting, organized, ability to travel are all required. The GOC shall have a strong interest in human population issues and/or sustainable development. Detailed responsibilities and compensation: GOC will work closely with, take directives from and report to the executive director to expedite the mission of NECSP. Major duties will include but not be limited to: Research opportunities for presenting NECSP ideas to public audiences at events such as fairs, festivals, conferences, student groups, professional associations; securing NECSP participation; set-up display tables and represent the organization to the public. The GOC will seek to satisfy objectives of these outreach activieties: Educate the public about population growth and sustainable development Increase awareness of NECSP Increase NECSP membership Identify and recruit active volunteers or interested individuals with expertise on population and/or sustainability and participate in educating less informed volunteers, members and the public concerning population issues GOC will keep records of each event in terms of materials handed out, audiences and reactions. GOC will also be responsible for attending Board meetings and making quarterly reports to Directors.
