URI is offering its Master Composter / Recycler Program again this spring, helping you to learn how to maximize the re-use of your junk and become an advocate for composting and recycling within your local community and around the state. To earn the title “Master Composter / Recycler,” participants attend a 14-hour course and fulfill a volunteer commitment of at least 30 hours. The program is conducted in partnership with the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation.
Class topics include the economic and environmental benefits of recycling and composting, the science of composting, and the basic techniques and materials needed to start and to maintain a successful home compost pile. Classes start April 3 and meet at the Botanical Center in Roger Williams Park, Thursday evenings and Saturdays. The fee is just $50 and covers all your books and handouts.
For more info or to sign up, click here or call Sejal Harde at 401.874.4453.
