Do you have a passion for the environment, theater, children? Are you looking for a unique opportunity to serve your country developing new programming for diverse communities? The Bridges 4 Learning Collaborative is the AmeriCorps program for you! Bridges 4 Learning is a collaborative of four unique organizations—the Apeiron Institute for Sustainable Living, Connecting for Children & Families, the Cranston Community Learning Center, and Traveling Theatre. The Bridges 4 Learning AmeriCorps program is looking for 6 full-time members to provide afterschool arts and environment enrichment education to Cranston and Woonsocket students. Members will also become “green mentors”, working to support the “greening” of local and statewide schools. Members will be placed at each site to create and implement a variety of afterschool enrichments, green school initiatives, and community events. They will deliver environmental and/or theatre arts programs at afterschool programs for elementary and middle school students in Cranston and Woonsocket. They will coordinate “green” initiatives in local schools. They will help coordinate community events, including the RI Sustainable Living Festival & Clean Energy Expo www.livingfest.org. As a culminating activity, they will create and deliver an “environmental theatre” program to students. · $11,400 living allowance · $4,725 education award upon completion of service · Student loan forebearance for qualified loans · Individual health insurance · Child care allowance for eligible members Member requirements: · Must be at leat 18 years old and a legal US resident · Completion of at least 2 years of college preferred · Commitment to the full year (1700 hours) of service · Experience working with children & groups · Passion for children, education, the environment, and/or theatre arts
