There's a ton of stuff going on this weekend, including some of the biggest local eco-events of the year, so it should be a great time to get out and try something new! The weather report so far looks spectacular, with bright sun and warm temperatures -- maybe hitting 90! -- so wherever you go outdoors, be sure to bring sunscreen and shade. Tonight, Green Drinks Newport gathers at the Norman Bird Sanctuary. Click for details. Find tons of unusual and native plants at the RI Wild Plant Society Spring Sale, Saturday, 9 to noon, at URI. Click for details. Save The Bay opens its environmental art show Saturday evening at the Bay Center, click for details. The Rhode Island Sustainable Living and Clean Energy Fest runs both Saturday and Sunday, at the Apeiron Institute in Coventry. Tons of workshops, exhibits, music, and more. This is a big event for the local environmental community. Click here for details. Look for NNN there on Sunday! On Monday, the Metcalf Institute starts its Tenth Annual Public Lecture Series, at the URI Bay Campus, Monday to Friday. The topic is "Scientists and Journalists: Getting the Point Across." Click here for details. Free and open to all. BioBlitz 2008 is happening Friday and Saturday in Westerly, but if you are not already pre-registered, it's too late to go. NNN will bring you a photo essay about the event next week. Watch for it! And check our NNN Community Calendar, with tons of events, provided by What Grows On in R.I. New this week, events from Audubon and the Appalachian Mountain Club are added to the list. Most Farmers Markets across the state are open for the season now, you can find them in the Calendar. Every week they will have more and more to offer.
