Bike To Work Day, Friday! Print E-mail
Monday, 12 May 2008

Riding a bike is becoming a more popular alternative for many, as it dawns upon us that we can ride all we want for free, and never visit a gas station. This Friday, May 16, bikers get a chance to celebrate their freedom from oil at the annual Bike To Work Day celebration in downtown Providence. This event is part of a national awareness-building effort.

pbc“Riding a bicycle or RIPTA bus to work every day represents one of the strongest actions a commuter can take to reduce global-warming pollution and our dependence on oil,” said Chris Wilhite, director of Sierra Club Rhode Island. “By making it safer and easier for cyclists to commute to work, Cool Cities like Providence can be significant leaders in ensuring that Narragansett Bay stays cool enough for its fisheries and wildlife.”

Join in, have fun, and show your support for a better, safer, bike infrastructure. Click here for all the info.
