One thing we all have in common, we all have a Mother! And this Sunday is the day to say thanks for bringing us into the world. But besides all that, we have lots going on over the weekend to provide the chance to get outside and enjoy our Mother Earth.
On Saturday, you can find plant sales around the state -- Barrington, Providence, Newport, Exeter, and more -- but the biggest event is at URI's East Farm, where the annual spring festival offers a wide selection of plants, exhibits, seminars and lots more. You can also join in a celebration of International Migratory Bird Day, at Trustom Pond. Details and contact info for all these events can be found at our Community Calendar. Sunday is Mom's day. Blithewold Mansion has an open house from 1 to 4, a good excuse to take a drive to Bristol and enjoy the views of the Bay. Tonight, gardeners can get inspired with a class at Audubon about attracting birds and butterflies to your yard. Kids are invited to the Tri-Pond Nature Center in North Kingstown to create a basket for Mom.
