| LNG in Mt. Hope Bay - Your Voice Needed This Week! |

Despite the fact that everybody in the world, pretty much, is against the idea of LNG tankers in Narragansett Bay, the developers who are determined to pursue this project keep on coming up with new proposals, plowing ahead in the face of all efforts to stop them. Save The Bay today sent out an alert that a new angle on the project is up for public hearings this week, and STB hopes you will join the chorus of voices protesting it. The latest plan is to create an “Offshore Berth” in Mount Hope Bay to dock LNG tankers, then run a gas pipeline beneath the Bay to a storage facility in Fall River. "This proposal will require extensive new dredging and the project’s footprint will permanently destroy critical fish habitat and render much of [Mount Hope] Bay off-limits to the public," says STB.
Hearings on this matter will be held: Tuesday, June 24 - 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Mount Hope High School Auditorium, 199 Chestnut Street, Bristol, RI 02809 Click here for more background on this issue, from Save The Bay.
