Urgent Action Alert - Save The Clean Water Bond

via: Save The Bay

The Bay Community must act immediately to ensure that voters get a chance to support critical wastewater and pollution control infrastructure improvements. As the General Assembly meets on the budget in the next few days the $35 million Clean Water/Open Space bond included in the Governor's request is in jeopardy of being cut entirely.

Yes, this is a tough budget year, but if the Assembly refuses to give voters an opportunity to make this decision, it will endanger the progress we've worked hard to make. This bond will require no short-term spending and will not increase the deficit. Instead, it will stimulate the economy through creation of short-term construction jobs and provide long-overdue sewage treatment and stormwater improvements for cities and towns statewide.

Click on "More..." for more details and links to help you take immediate action. You can sign STB's online petition.

Getting this bond on the ballot is essential to the future of our economy and our most precious natural resource -- Narragansett Bay. We must not squander this opportunity to ensure clean water, good fishing and safe beaches for everyone in the Ocean State.

This is a vote for the Bay! We now have a Bay worth saving. Please take action today!

Take action now! Sign an online petition to let your legislative leaders know you value clean water.

Ask your senator and representative to keep the bond in the budget, click here for an online form.
